Volunteer Ministers Open Their Yellow Tent in Bologna
Bologna's Piazza Lucio Dalla is hosting the travelling yellow tent of the Volunteer Ministers of Scientology, remaining in Piazza Lucio Dalla until 8 September.
Around 100 people attended the opening, including representatives of communities assisted by Volunteer Ministers after natural disasters.
Among them was Pianoro Mayor Luca Vecchiettini, who spoke about the relationship established with the volunteers after severe flooding in 2024. Restaurateur Fabrizio Lazzarini also recalled the Volunteer Ministers helping his business recover after the flooding.
Andrea Ferrarini, formerly involved with civil protection in Bondeno, also remembered assistance provided after the 2012 earthquakes.
Founded by L. Ron Hubbard in 1976, the programme combines community assistance with tools for life disaster-response activities.
Inside the Bologna tent, visitors can view photographs and videos documenting Volunteer Ministers activities while learning about methods addressing communication, education, relationships and everyday challenges.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, described the Bologna initiative as an expression of European values of solidarity, human dignity and community responsibility.
The initiative brings together memories of disaster response with methods intended to help people handle everyday difficulties.
